I am from Finland, born in 1980 in the small town of Ekenäs on the southern coast of Finland. Growing up we traveled a lot as a family, mostly due to that half of my family lives in The Netherlands.  (My mother is Finnish and my father is Dutch.) So it felt natural for me to move to The Netherlands to study art. I lived there for 4 years while I took my BA (bachelor) in Fine Art in Utrecht.  A few years later I completed my studies with a year in Dundee in Scotland, where I got my MFA (masters of fine art).

 

In 2010 my husband got a job opportunity abroad, and what was supposed to be a year turned into almost 10 years in China. Then another job opportunity came around, and since Christmas of 2019, we have lived in Whakatane on the north island of New Zealand.

We are now the proud owners of a little bit of land where we keep our own chickens, ducks, pigs, 2 cows, and of course, 3 cats to keep an eye on us all.

I have turned an old guest room in the garage into my studio. It is a dream come true to have a space like this dedicated to my art.

Artist Statement

​

I love nature and wildlife, and I want to paint the sort of paintings that I would love to hang on my own wall. They should be like windows into the awesomeness that is nature. A short glimpse into the secret lives of birds, or a flower or landscape scene that wants you to stop and lose yourself in it for a minute or two.

​

I am fascinated by both realism and abstraction in art, so I am trying to find the perfect balance of both in my paintings.
