I have been meaning to add more art and designs to my RedBubble shop, but haven't sat down and actually done it. I used to have a shop with Society6, but changed it to RedBubble a few months ago. I will upload some of my older paintings there as well, but I also want to design some more specific things to go onto coffee mugs and the like instead of only adapting my paintings. I have a few ideas in mind, and last week I sat down and started to put down some of them on paper. It was much less difficult than I thought it would be, and now I have so many more ideas I want to do.
To quote Picasso:
'Inspiration has to find you working'
I at least found that to be very true. So here are some pages from my art journal where I have been working on some new design ideas specifically to be printed on coffee mugs, phone cases, stationery and the other things shops like RedBubble offer. Next step will be to actually paint them more carefully and then to upload them.
This is one of the oil sketches in my art journal that inspired the designs below. Fantail.
First I wanted to try and simplify the background and then give it something ornamental. I like this one, but I am not sure how easy it will be to make it look good printed on different things. My computer skills are limited, so I have to have an easy design to start with so that the tweaking I have to do in photoshop is minimal.
The second design idea. Very similar as the first, but with a different ornament element in the background and with much more white space. I prefer the warmer tones in this one, but I like the stencil I used for the first one better.
Then I decided to try and simplify it much more, and this is the result of that. I think these would look great on coffee mugs. Simple, yet elegant.
Encouraged by the previous designs I did one with three flying avocets. I am in love with this one. I want this either on a coffee mug or as a cover on my phone! Now I can't wait to design more similar to this, so I better get started.
I hope you are all well and safe, and I wish you a good week ahead!
